Community Support for Dementia

Davina and Stephanie formed Community Support for Dementia early 2019 after researching their local area they quickly realised there was a big hole in support for dementia in their community.  So, they raised further funds and organised a monthly Dementia Café at the Melbourn Hub. The number of people attending increased every week and very soon they were taking over the whole café on a Saturday afternoon.

Davina says “it was the most incredible feeling to watch and listen to the carers and those ‘living with dementia’ enjoying the music, activities, tea and cakes” Davina and Stephanie  felt that they were making a difference to so many, FORGOTTEN people!

Community Support for Dementia continues to fund raise to support the local community and they continue the path to be able to:

SUPPORT people ‘living with dementia’, their friends, family and personal carers with social stimulation and activities. This will take place in a safe, dementia friendly environment with professionals and volunteers who are experienced in Dementia care.

AWARENESS by educating people in our community on how they can interact and help people ‘living with dementia’ through the Dementia Friends Initiative.

TRAINING friends, families, and personal carers in Dementia C Practice through additional dedicated training sessions on specific subjects, informative leaflets and keeping up to date with research into the disease.
